Prairie Grid Pop-Up Dinner Series 2018 – 6 chefs, 4 cities, 3 provinces

In case you missed it (and I don’t know how that’s possible, because I didn’t stop talking about it for almost 10 days), Eat North’s Prairie Grid pop-up dinner series took place September 27-October 4, 2018.

The inaugural series happened last year and it was so well-received that Dan Clapson, the man behind the series, decided to go for it again this year. PG2018 was just as fantastic, and we were reminded how fortunate we are to live in the Canadian prairies surrounded by good people and good food producers.

This year, we had another culinary dream team on board: JP Pedhirney from Bridgette Bar in Calgary, Steve Brochu from Chartier in Edmonton, Beth Rogers and Thayne Robstad from Hearth in Saskatoon,  Mike Robins from Sous Sol in Winnipeg, and Jess Young from Diversity Food Services (also Winnipeg). Christie Peters from The Hollows and Primal in Saskatoon pinched hit for Beth and Thayne who couldn’t carry on to Winnipeg for the final dinner, and Christie’s bar manager, Adrian Chappell was along for the whole ride whipping up cocktails and drinks to pair with each course. What a bonus it was to have her with us this year.

I wrote about each dinner of the series for EatNorth.com. Just click on the city names to take you to those articles and then start thinking about PG2019. You’re not going to want to miss this one.  It’s going to be even better than ever.

Dan’s thank you article is worth a read. I echo every one of his sentiments… and I am truly #proudtobeprairie.

See you next year.
